Making a Difference is Easy!
Helping people and communities make the most of their potential is easier than you think. Everyone can get involved and make a difference, whether by making a small monthly donation, hosting a party, spreading the word, sharing ideas, or volunteering.
Small Donations, Huge Difference
People are always amazed by how little money it takes to change a person’s life. Our goal is to award one scholarship by the fall of 2010. That will require raising approximately $40,000. Seem like a lot? Actually it’s not.
For as little as $10 a month, you can help a deserving person achieve their dreams and give disadvantaged communities access to the professional services they need. The key is getting lots of people to give a little. Here’s the math.
Goal: $10,000 per year for 4 years = $40,000
|
Monthly donation required: $10
|
Number of monthly donors required: 83
|
All it takes is 83 people. Think about how small that number is. Chances are there were more than 83 people in your high school graduating class. Maybe you work for an organization with more than 83 employees. You definitely have more than 83 Facebook friends!
And all it takes is $10 a month. Think about all the trivial things you spend $10 on. You likely spent more than that on coffee last week, especially if you’re into the fancy kind. You spent $10 on your last movie ticket – $20 if you got popcorn! And you spent $10 on your last album on iTunes.
By making a small sacrifice and tapping into our networks of friends, we can make a huge difference in a person’s life. It’s the difference between a life struggling to make ends meet, and a life of security. But the impact of each donation is much greater, spreading opportunity through the public service of CAPE Scholars. And the more we give and the more people we tell, the more lives we touch.
Host a Party
Everyone loves parties. And they’re a fun and easy way to support the CAPE Scholarship. Next time you have a Halloween or housewarming party, why not make the CAPE Scholarship the beneficiary? Tell your guests about the cause and ask them to make a small donation. All you have to do is set up a laptop and point it to our donation page.
People are hosting CAPE parties all over the world. Make sure you take lots of pictures and send them to us so we can post them on our Facebook site. You’ll get bonus points if you shoot some video. And if you want us to promote your party on our website, we’ll be happy to.
Spread the Word
Another valuable way to support the CAPE Scholarship is by telling your friends about it. If you’ve been inspired to get involved, chances are your friends will be too. But when the message comes from a trusted friend, people are much more likely to respond. That’s why we’re counting on you to get the word out.
There are so many ways to do this. Join our Facebook group and invite your friends to join. Share our YouTube videos will everyone you know. Send an email to your friends telling them about the CAPE Scholarship. Or do it the old fashioned way – actually speak to people!
Sharing Ideas
Don't keep a good idea to yourself. If think of a creative way to help the CAPE Scholarship be more successful, we want to hear about it. Our supporters aren't just a source funds, but a gold mine of ideas that can make sure this project realizes its enormous potential.
